I managed to capture two observations of M42. The first with narrowband filters (Halpha, Sii, Oiii) and the second with Red, Green, and Blue. So I experimented with different mixes. Using the Halpha as a pseudo-luminance filter, I found that straight LRGB mixing in Pixinsight blew out the center so that the Trapezium was washed out. Doing the HRGB mix with PixelMath controlled that area.
