Here Some Gifts for You to Enjoy During Christmas and New Year
Christmas is so close, you can probably taste it!
As well as all the festive food, drinks, and celebrations, that means a lot more time to spend on astrophotography.
Not least during ‘Twixmas’ – the period in-between Christmas and New Year, when we all have lots of downtime to enjoy.
As a happy coincidence, there’s never been a better time to use the platform.
We’ve been hard at work throughout 2022 to bring you improvements across the board…
First of all, our new download system makes it quicker and easier to obtain the high-quality datasets you want.
That’s paired with a new tutorial section with a Netflix-style interface, so it’s incredibly easy to find the tutorials you need.
But we won’t stop there. We’ve got even more improvements in the pipeline for the Telescope Live network…
- Across our entire network, the existing CCD cameras will be replaced with best-in-class CMOS cameras (QHY600 Pro Mono equipped with the Sony IMX455 full-frame sensor).
They will provide exceptional resolution (9576x6388 pixels / 61.2 Mbpx) and quantum efficiency (over 90%).
- In the next month, we will also add a new telescope to our network, which has just been installed in New Mexico.
The telescope is a DeltaRho 350 – a brand new design from Planewave, with super-fast optics and an exceptional 2 degrees field of view.
It will provide much-needed redundancy in the Northern Hemisphere during Spain’s cloudy winter months.
- Last but certainly not least, SPA 2 is coming back soon!
Having been out of service for quite some time, I’m delighted to announce that the telescope will be available again in early 2023.
I hope you’re as excited as I am for all these improvements – and I can’t wait for you to enjoy them over the holidays and throughout 2023.
Let’s call them a gift for Christmas and New Year!
Finally – and most importantly – I wish you all the best for the festive season and the new year ahead. Have a very merry Christmas!
Clear Skies
