New Feature: Suggest Future Observations

suggest new observation

It’s been five months already since we launched Telescope Live 3, and, today, we are glad to announce that we are getting one further step closer to our vision of making the night sky more accessible to everybody.

One of the major new features of Telescope Live 3 was the launch of our huge database of images, containing over 130,000 images, corresponding to more than 8,000 hours of observations.

But we know the sky is limitless, so we decided to dedicate over 95% of the network to acquire more and more images that are made available immediately.

Since the launch of Telescope Live 3 in November, we acquired 23,000 more images, corresponding to 2,000 hours of observations. This is on average 400 hours of new observations per month!

But, so far, we’ve been the ones deciding what the next targets and observations should be.

You can influence which targets should be observed first (by upvoting specific One Click Observations in the Future Observations section), but you have really little say about what we observe next.

I’m sure that many of you look at our archive, and think – Well, this object is missing! Or, I need more data for this target! Or, why aren’t there RGB images for this target? And so on…

Starting from today, we have a solution!

Thanks to a new feature you will now deciding and proposing what our network should observe next.

From today, our entire network of telescopes is at your disposal. We will continue growing the largest archive archive of astrophotography targets exclusively following your suggestions.

This feature is available at no extra fee to all Gold subscribers and above who have completed at least one Advanced Requests.

You will be able to pick the target, specify the exact coordinates, chose the telescope, the filters and the exposure time to use. You will also be able to tell us why you think we should approve your suggestions.

Our staff will then review these suggestions regularly to make sure they fit within our schedule, and are actually reasonable, and we will then approve them or reject them.

Nice new feature. Letting your members vote which target to choose would improve this feature and even reduce the load on your side to assess the suggestions.
