Weekly astronomy recap: the most distant fast radio burst, two planetary families and genuinely green stars
MeerKAT and the James Webb Space Telescope have traced a fast radio burst back to redshift 2.148, when the Universe was only three billion years old, roughly doubling the distance record for a localised burst. We also cover a new study splitting the galaxy's planetary systems into two distinct families shaped by their host stars, the first genuinely green star ever identified, and a radio phoenix found hiding behind the plane of the Milky Way.
