NGC 1291: an unusual galaxy
NGC 1291, also known as NGC 1269, is a ring galaxy with an unusual inner bar and outer ring structure located about 33 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus. This galaxy was cited as an example of a "transitional galaxy", considered in an intermediate stage between a young spiral galaxy and an elliptical galaxy (such as a lenticular SB-galaxy).

Great image Jan. I had a go at this one, let's just say the result was not something I would want to publish. Thanks for showing what can be achieved with this data set.
Thanks Philip, I needed some processing iterations to get a 'decent' result too :)
