The color in this image is terrific. I’ve tried to match it but I’m not having much luck. Would you be able to give me some suggestions?

Hi Jeremy.
I revisited the Omega Centauri data and recompiled the image using just Affinity Photo. For the earlier version I'd used PixInsight and Photoshop to create the image. The new workflow indicated that the three RGB FITS contain very good colour information and although I'd used a completely different program the star colours were quite apparent.
Can you let me know which software you're using please? If you are getting a reasonable result, try experimenting with either the 'Vibrance' tool or the 'Saturation' tool. Both of these should enhance the colours of the stars in the cluster. Also, when scaling the individual images that will make up the RGB file, ensure that you don't saturate the star images as this will produce a very washed-out colour file.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Nik

Hi, Nik,
Thanks for the response. I’m using Pixinsight with final touches in Photoshop. I’m just getting into mono after several years with OSC, so I’m working through the learning curve. I’m getting a decent result but I can’t quite dial the colors in like you have.

What exactly do you mean when you say “scaling”the RGB images? Do you mean stretching and then combining? Right now I’m using Channel Combination” and then stretching.

Hi Jeremy.
I also used PI's Channel Combination tool to compile the RGB, hit the AutoScale button and then made minor corrections before saving it as a 16-bit RGB file. I then scaled the Luminance frame and combined the two using PS's Layers menu. That did a pretty good job so all I had to do was apply the Vibrance tool to the RGB layer.
Cheers, Nik
