M16 and M17 region
M16 and M17 region
I decided to try a wide field narrow band image of the region covering M16 and M17 … and what a treasure trove of objects are to be seen here! The Aladin software was excellent at getting the FOV and coordinates before imaging. I am more than pleased with my final image.
The two larger objects in the image are M16, on the left (I am pleased that I can just spot the “Pillars of Creation” if I zoom in) and M17 on the right.
I am finding it difficult to identify other objects in the … but I think that I can identify M18 to the right of M17 and also M24 on the right hand edge. I am interested in the small blue area in the top right hand corner, but I currently do not know what it is
