Centaurus A
NGC 5128, also known as C 77 and Centaurus A, is a peculiar galaxy in the constellation Centaurus. It belongs to the intermediate class between elliptical and spiral galaxies, of the lenticular type; is a giant galaxy belonging to the M83 group, with a distance of 11 million light-years from the Milky Way. The center of NGC 5128 is one of the strongest known radio sources (Cen A), as well as the closest of the active galaxies, and the fifth brightest galaxy in the night sky, making it an ideal observing target for amateur astronomers. From the two poles of Centaurus A, two jet radio wave emissions several million light-years long emanate. At the center of the galaxy is thought to be a supermassive black hole of many millions of solar masses
