Close-up of IC2944 featuring Bok Globules
This is a close-up of IC2944, which is a large nebulous region containing many nebulae. You can very well see the Bok globules in this pose. Bok globules are small dark nebulae containing dense cosmic dust and gas. These type globules were discovered in the 1940's by Bart Bok, but these in IC2944 were discovered by David Thackery in the 1950's.
