Cone Nebula & Christmas Tree Cluster (NGC 2264)
Cone Nebula & Christmas Tree Cluster (NGC 2264)
This is an LRGB processed image from the Cone Nebula Pro Dataset. It contains the Cone Nebula itself at the top of the image, and the larger HII region below it is the Christmas Tree Cluster. In the centre of the image is the bright star S Monocerotis, and just to the left of this is the Fox Fur Nebula which has a red emmission region of ionised hydrogen and a blue reflection region of dust that is illuminated by the bright young stars within the nebula.
The dataset only contained two blue filter subs with one showing some motion artefact so I ended up only using one blue sub. This and the other images in the set were very high quality though and I don't think it detracts from the final image.
