The core of the Running Chicken Nebula (IC 2948)
Image of IC 2948 and part of IC 2944 (Running Chicken Nebula) in the constellation Centaurus, near the star λ Centauri.
IC 2948 is the brightest emission and reflection nebulae towards the southeast of the Running Chicken Nebula. The nebulae is 6,500 light years from earth.
IC 2948 features Bok globules, which are frequently a site of active star formation.
This image was acquired with the CHI-1, data from 5 one click observations.
Total integration time: 300 minutes
SHO 10 subs of 600s with each filter (SII, H-alpha and OIII).
