🌌 The Cosmic Dance of NGC 5426 🌌

In the quiet depths of Virgo, NGC 5426 spins its graceful spiral arms in a cosmic waltz. Approximately 130 million light-years from Earth, this majestic galaxy appears as a delicate swirl of stars (apparent magnitude 11.4), hosting billions of suns in its luminous disc.

Its twin companion, NGC 5427, is locked in a gravitational embrace: together they form the interacting pair Arp 271, joined by a bridge of stars and gas that fuels new waves of star birth.
