Eta Carina

An extremely bright magnitude 1 nebula visible from the Southern Hemisphere.

Processed using a modification of an approach described by Adam Block - entirely in Pixinsight. This essentially gives an HOO red-blue, with the addition of S as yellow- So perhaps should be called HOOS. I personally prefer this to the classic SHO pallete, perhaps because I am used to producing HOO red-blue images with my OSC-dual band set-up. But its all a matter of taste.

I first created a starless HOO image, and then adjusted the Ha-O3 balance using NB Normalization. The SII starless was colorized using NBColorMapper. The HOO and S images were then combined with the ImageBlend script. RGB stars were created from the narrow band data by denoising with Noise X and then extracting stars with StarX. Stars were then combined and then sharpened with BlurX, and linearized using AstroSeti Starstretch. Starless and Stars were then combined with ScreenStars. Thanks to Mike Cranfield and Bill Blanshan for developing these fabulous scripts!

I was hoping to capture this image with my OSC travel rig while in Peru but ´clouds stopped play.´ So using the Telescope Live data, was a great opportunity to try my hand at narrow band data processing with Telescope Live data while waiting for clouds to clear.

Its now very tempting to finally make the switch to narrow band imaging when I get back to Spain!
