Gabriela Mistral Nebula
Gabriela Mistral Nebula
Open cluster NGC 3324 and emission nebula IC 2599, together nicknamed "Gabriela Mistral Nebula" after the Chilean poet. Situated in the northern outskirts of the Carina nebula ~35 light-years wide and 7500 light-years away in Carina. Stellar winds and radiation from stars in NGC 3324 have shaped the hollow structure seen.
SHO false-color image from narrowband data 15h 50m (31:32:32x600s) from CHI-1 telescope, a Planewave CDK24 with FLI PL 9000 camera, and Astrodon SHO 3nm filters, situated in the Rio Hurtado Valley, Chile. Part of the telescope.live telescope network. Taken on multiple dates March-June 2020-2022.
Processed in PixInsight. The colors are modified Foraxx palette to have a little more balance in blue. Stretched heavily with GHS to bring out as many details as possible, noise reduction and details enhanced via constructing a synthetic luminance. Star colors via SPCC in narrow band mode with Photon Flux as white reference.
