The Great Andromeda Galaxy

2.5 million light-years away, M31, a vast spiral galaxy, much like ours, is gently gliding through space, edging closer to us every second. In 4.5 million light-years, The Andromeda Galaxy is predicted to collide with ours in what will be a spectacular cosmic event. Until then, it remains a beautiful target for us astrophotographers to image and enjoy.

Imaged using the SPA-3 Takahashi FSQ-106EDX4 Telescope with an FLI PL16083 Camera.

40 minutes total integration time:

1x600s (BIN 1x1) GREEN
1x600s (BIN 1x1) BLUE
