IC 2944 Emission Nebula
This nebula is known as the Running Chicken Nebula. It is an emission nebula found in the southern constellation Centaurus. It is estimated to be 6,500 light years away. Small dark nebulae known as Bok globules can be seen in the interior of the nebula. These globules are made of dense cosmic gas and dust and may be regions of star formation.
