Lagoon Nebula - Pro Data Set
Help! Does anyone know what caused and how to correct the smeared columns on either side of the central image?
The Lagoon Nebula is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius. It is classified as an emission nebula and as an H II region. It is one of only two star-forming nebulae faintly visible to the eye from mid-northern latitudes. The dataset is curated by Ian Howarth.

Jim, that 'smear' is weird. It's absent from other reductions in the Gallery (mine included), so i don't think it's inherent to the dataset. First thing i'd check is the cosmetic correction of columns, frame by frame (e.g., blink the cc frames), then the frame alignments.
Very nice rendition otherwise.
