LDN 1667 and surrounding region

LDN 1667, on the right, and LDN 1664, near the image's bottom-right, are about 600 light years away from us, and are both dark nebulae located within the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. The Orion Molecular Cloud Complex is a massive star-forming region that spans across the Orion and Monoceros constellations and contains a variety of objects including bright reflection nebulae like M42 and dark nebulae like LDN 1664 and LDN 1667.

NGC 2354, to the left of LDN 1667, is an open cluster located in the constellation Canis Major, about 3,600 light-years away from us. It is an older cluster, with an estimated age of around 400 million years. The cluster contains a variety of stars, including both evolved and less evolved ones, as well as some variable stars.
