LDN 1667 (HSO)
LDN 1667, aka SH2-310, NGC2380 is one of the largest HII regions known in the Milky Way. It is ionized by two stars called Tau Canis Majoris and UW Canis Majoris. This image shows only the brightest and most interesting part of this enormous region. Even after 2.5 years in this hobby, it's still hard to comprehend that there are roughly 63700 stars in this image, and any two are approx. 4 to 5 LYs (approx. 25 to 29 trillion miles) apart!!!
