M17 a.k.a omega Nebula

M17 a.k.a The Omega Nebula, NGC 6618, the Swan Nebula, Checkmark Nebula, Lobster Nebula, and the Horseshoe Nebula. A H II region in Sagittarius ~5-6K ly away ~15 ly in diameter. Considered to be one of the brightest and most massive star-forming regions of our galaxy, the geometry is similar to the Orion Nebula, except that it is viewed edge-on rather than face-on.
