M17-Omega Nebula CHI-1 ProData set
Messier 17, also known as The Omega or Swan Nebula is located in the constellation of Sagittarius and lies at a distance of 5,000-6,000 light-years from Earth. It is a prolific HII region and is considered one of the brightest and massive star forming regions in our galaxy. NGC 6618, an open cluster embedded in the nebulosity is responsible for the illumination of the nebula.
