M8 Core in SII and SSHO
In 2019, I began experimenting with the SII-filtered images of emission nebulae. The SII filter can provide very high contrast nebular outlines that were pleasing by themselves and when used as the luminance layer of a traditional HST palette. Such is the case in this starless example of the M8 core. I’m certain that Nik’s webinar on the subject will be very informative, and that he will point out that this technique only works well with very bright nebulae with a goodly amount of SII emission.
