I've added the images with just the unresolved stars in the galaxy and the stars, to show that there actually are extra stars where the galaxy is, showing that these stars are part of the galaxy.

I deliberately processed this image to emphasise the number of stars picked up in the target galaxy. The beauty of the spiral arms is thereby somewhat hidden.
