Comments
There are also some cute incidental objects. At the very top left, there seems to be a globular cluster. Towards the top right is a small group of distant galaxies which seem to be quite redshifted.
The larger galaxy NGC 1316 is at the centre of a sub-cluster of the southern hemisphere’s Fornax Cluster. The galaxy above it is NGC 1317. The larger galaxy is listed as a lenticular galaxy, but some faint spiral structure is also visible, so that can’t be the whole story. There is considerable uncertainty about the distances to these galaxies: they’re around 55-80 million light years away.
