NGC 1760

NGC 1760 (also known as Henize 11 or N 11) is star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) – a satellite galaxy to our Milky Way about 163,000 light-years away from Earth. This is the second largest of such in the LMC after NGC 2070 (Tarantula Nebula). It is a cocoon shaped nebula that consists of different components. At the centre lies a large cavity with a bright blue star cluster, NGC 1761. Three oval shaped patches are situated left of centre with two containing embedded star clusters. NGC 1763 is the designation for the largest of these three patches. The patch is a cavity filled with gas and dust.
