NGC 3247 - Whirling Dervish Nebula
NGC 3247 - Whirling Dervish Nebula
NGC 3247 is a bright H II region located about 13,700 light-years away in the constellation Carina. This emission nebula spans roughly 300–400 light-years and contains the young massive star cluster Westerlund 2. It is an active stellar nursery where intense radiation and stellar winds shape the surrounding gas and dust, offering valuable insight into star and planet formation. A total of 82 calibrated subs were used (30×300s Hα, 26×300s SII, 26×300s OIII), providing nearly 6h 50min of integration time. I performed the full image processing from the integration stage using PixInsight, including combination of the narrowband channels and final editing in the Hubble palette (SHO).
