NGC 3579 & NGC 3572
This image showcases NGC 3579 (Statue of Liberty nebula) and NGC 3572 (Southern Tadpole Nebula) located approx. 9000 light years from Earth in the constellation of Carina. They are seen in spectacular surroundings of star clusters, emission nebulae and dark dust lanes. As well as the two object noted above there are a number of other star clusters - NGC 3603, NGC 3503, NGC 3590, NGC 3496 and NGC 3519. These are all located in the largest single segment of the Sagittarius Arm that we can see from our position in the Milky Way - the Carina Spiral Feature.
There are a massive number of stars in this image - while stacking around 107,000 stars registered. I have posted 2 versions, one is almost starless which I think brings out the nebulae in the image, the second star version shows the blanket of stars and the many open clusters.
