NGC 3621
NGC 3621
NGC 3621 is a spiral galaxy approx. 22 Mly away in the constellation of Hydra discovered by William Herschel in 1790.
It is a comparatively bright galaxy, around 216,900 ly across with a morphological classification is SA9(s)d, which indicates that this is an ordinary spiral with loosely wound arms. There is no evidence for a central bulge and has a flat pancake shape, indicating that it hasn’t yet come face to face with another galaxy as such a collision would have disturbed the thin disc of stars.
