NGC 4945

NGC 4945 a.k.a Caldwell 83, barred spiral galaxy in Centaurus ~11.7 Mly away. One of the brightest galaxies in Centaurus A/M83 group, part of the Virgo supercluster.

Thought to be very similar to our galaxy with an unusual energetic Seyfert 2 nucleus which may host a supermassive black hole. PGC 45380 a Hubble-type SBm barred spiral galaxy ~53 Mly away can also be seen at the top right corner, looking like a star with emerging plumes.

HaLRGB image 26h 25m total, H alpha added to the red and blue channel using continuum subtraction technique. Data is from iTelescope.net and telescope.live.
