NGC 6188 a.k.a The Rim Nebula
NGC 6188 a.k.a The Rim Nebula
An emission nebula, the rim HII region ~4000 light-years away in Ara. The region is eroded by the star cluster NGC 6193 (you can see two stars of that cluster on the top left), NGC 6193 along with NGC 6167 and NGC 6204 forms the Ara OB 1a stellar association. This association is one of our galaxy's closest and best examples of triggered star formation. Going back and forth on literature and processing of this region, the emphasis is on showing the erosion of the HII region.
SHO narrowband data 16h 40m (30:36:34x600s) mapped to RGB along with tuning hues to emphasize the erosion. From CHI-1 Telescope, a Planewave CDK24 with FLI PL 9000 camera, and Astrodon HSO 3nm filters, situated in the Rio Hurtado Valley, Chile. Part of the telescope.live telescope network. Taken on multiple dates March 2021 - May 2022.
Processed in PixInsight and AffnityPhoto.
