NGC 6946 The Fireworks Galaxy
The Fireworks Galaxy or NGC 6946 is a face-on Intermediate Spiral Galaxy 25.2 million light years away between the constellation Cepheus and Cygnus.
NGC 6946 is a very interesting galaxy. It's name comes from it's ten supernovas. And it's also home to the strange NGC6946-BH1. The galaxy contains multiple strange structures. An example is the Red Ellipse found in it.
This is a 6 hours exposure image using the LRGB filter on the SPA-2 Telescope. the R is placed on the Red, the G is placed on the Green, and the B is placed on the Blue. the L filter was added as a luminance to enhance the image.
