NGC 7380
NGC 7380
NGC 7380 is a young open cluster in the constellation Cepheus. It is located in the southern part of the constellation, 2 degrees east of the star δ Cephei, in the direction of a rather rich star field; It appears dominated to the west by a double star of magnitude 7.6. With 10x50 binoculars its resolution is partial and limited to a few stars, while through a 100mm telescope a few dozen stars up to magnitude 12 are evident; with a 150mm aperture instrument it is possible to reveal all its components, including the DH Cephei variable, one of its most studied components.
The strongly northern declination of this cluster greatly favors observers in the northern hemisphere, from which it is circumpolar to low latitudes; From the southern hemisphere, on the other hand, it remains rather low and is not even observable from latitudes far from the tropical zone. The best time to observe it in the evening sky is between June and November
