NGC346 - Open cluster & nebula

This is an open cluster in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Tucana. Constitutes the brightest star forming region in the LMC. Composed of an arched structure surrounding the stars in the center. This is a site of active star formation with some stars being only 3-5 million years old. The pink region in the center is energized gas due to the intense radiation from the stars. New research indicates the shape is due to stars and gas spiraling into the center.
