Orion Nebula

Orion Nebula is an emission nebula located in Orion constelation, south from Orion Belt. It is one of the brightest nebula in the sky, and the closest region in the sky where stars are born (star nursery). It is located ~ 1344 ly from Earth, it has a diamer of ~ 24 ly and a mass ~ 2000 times of our Sun. M42 was discovered by Charles Messier in 1781, but, a legend of Maya civilazation calls that region of the sky as Xibalba.
