The Pencil Nebula is a small nebula in the part of the Vela Supernova Remnant. The Pencil Nebula is located near the Vela Pulsar in the constellation Vela. It is 815 million light years from Earth and suggests that it is part of the supernova shockwave of debris that slammed into the region of dense gas, causing this nebula to glow.
