Seahorse Nebula (Barnard 150)
Seahorse Nebula (Barnard 150)
The Seahorse Nebula (aka Barnard 150), is a dark molecular cloud of dust in Cepheus constellation.
It is located on the plane of the Milky Way and is so thick, it absorbs all of the light that comes from the stars behind it making it stand out on the background of the billions of stars in our galaxy.
It is about 1200 Light Years away from Earth.
The Fireworks Galaxy (NGC 6946) can be seen at the bottom of the screen and is way off in the distance, around 25.2 million light-years away.
Open cluster NGC 6939 can be seen to the lower right of NGC 6946, it is 4000 light years away and it is over a billion years old.
Part of the Flying Bat Nebula (Sh2-129) can be seen at the top of the image in red.
