Small Magellanic Cloud SHO/LRGB Blend
I'm pleased to announce that this is one of two images of mine that have been shortlisted in this years Astronomy Photographer of the Year Award. This has been released to the press, whereas the other image they have asked me to not reveal until the announcement of all shortlist images on the 14th of September.
A big thank you to Marco and the Telescope Live team for making this and all of the other great data available. Also thanks to the tutors whom I have learnt new and different techniques from and my other fellow subscribers whom I regularly draw inspiration from.
This is actually the first DSO I ever imaged when I was lucky enough to visit the dark skies of New Zealand in early 2018. I used my trusty Nikon D750 and got something like an hours worth of data. To have access to such a large amount of data from literally the other side of the world was a pipedream. I'm looking forwards to processing the new CMOS data from this target.

Well done! I noticed this one on some website but forgot to comment. Great image! I am curious to see the other image.
Thank you Jarmo! It's been an exercise in restraint as I've known for over 2 months now but haven't been able to say anything. Being a frugal Yorkshireman I submitted 10 images to get my money's worth from the entry fee, many things that I've posted recently in the TL gallery that haven't been a monthly competition entry are images that didn't make the APOTY shortlist and I still have a few more to post including some mosaics.
Great colours Jonathan!
Thank you Simon!
