Tarantula: less colour = more detail
Tarantula: less colour = more detail
The Tarantula Nebula is an absolute riot of color - all Ha, Oiii and Sii channels contain heaps of signal and the result can look like an explosion in a paint factory. However judicious mapping of SHO data into the RGB channels can reveal way more detail than the normal full color mayhem the Tarantula exhibits. Most of the mapping work was done by the "L-Extreme" option in Jarmo Ruuth's amazing AutoIntegrate script for PixInsight
