Tarantula Nebula
Tarantula Nebula
Here is the last of the southern hemisphere targets for the year. This is the Tarantula nebula, quite possibly the coolest nebula out there. Where to start.... well first of all... of all the Nebulae I've photographed this one... this one is not in the Milky Way! The Tarantula nebula is a region in the Large Magellanic Cloud which is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way... that's right... the Milky Way is so damn big there are other galaxies stuck in our gravitational pull and we're sucking them up.
I have been wanting to take a picture of this thing forever but didn't know for a long time it wasn't accessible from where I am. I'm thankful for services like Telescope.Live to give me the opportunity to photograph this from the Northern Hemisphere which otherwise would not be accessible.
