Thor's Helmet
Thor's Helmet
Thor’s Helmet is an emission nebula in the constellation Canis Major. It is about 11.96 light years away from us and 30 light years across. The cause of this incredible structure is a Wolf-Rayet star at its center which is thought to be at a pre-supernova stage.
This object was in my bucketlist for a while now but it’s too faint for my current gear. This is a bi-color image in HOO palette. Considering it’s only one hour of data and taken during a 78% illuminated Moon, I think it came out great. Kudos to the crispy skies of Chile.
*This is about a 2x crop from the original framing
Total Integration: 1 Hour
Ha: 3 x 600s
OIII: 3 x 600s
