Vela SNR
Vela SNR
The Vela Supernova Remnant (Vela SNR) is the remnant of a supernova that occurred around 11,000 years ago in the southern constellation Vela. The remnant lies approximately 936 light-years away. It is one of the nearest supernova remnants to the Sun. It is associated with the Vela Pulsar, the brightest pulsar in the sky at radio frequenciesThe Vela Supernova Remnant was created when a massive star shed its outer layers in a supernova event and its core collapsed into a neutron star. The neutron star, the Vela Pulsar, packs a mass comparable to that of the Sun into a diameter of only a few kilometres.
I processed the SHO data from Telescope Live in Pixinsight with some final adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop. Since there was not LRGB data I used Pixelmath to create an RGB image and merged the stars into the narrowbandimage. High res image in my Astrobin gallery https://astrob.in/1dxgkd/0/
