THE SQUARE ANTARES-M4-ALNIYAT-IC4605 by Salvatore Di Nardo
Prize: 25 credits

Comment from the judges: Salvatore Di Nardo had a good range of colours and the noise was well controlled. Some care should be taken in the future to avoid clipping of faint details, otherwise, a nice image!

Expert Tier

ANTARES - M4 - ALNIYAT - IC 4605 by Rouven Asmußen
Prize: 50 credits

Comment from the judges: Rouven Asmußen Antares is a challenging target because of the variance in dust intensity. The colour choice, combined with how the processing of the dust has been performed has been well executed.

🏆 Observation Bundle Contest Winners 🏆

The Observation Bundle for June 2023 Contest is the M51 obtained with SPA-2-CMOS in the LRGB filter set. It contains 5 One-Click Observations corresponding to more than 10 hours of total exposure time.

M51 by James Farley
Prize: 75 credits

Comment from the judges: James Farley produced an image with a unanimous voting decision. With well processed star colours and a good job processing the star background M51 stands out well here. A touch more saturation in this image would improve the overall aesthetic of the image.

Expert Tier

THE WHIRLPOOL GALAXY - M51 by Marek Idec
Prize: 100 credits

Comment from the judges: Marek Idec processed the M51 bundle very well with good control of the gradients and background noise. It's important to pay attention to the background of bright targets as it's very easy to clip. Of all the images the disk in Marek's image was processed the best. A slight increase in contrast would improve this image.

Let’s give a round of applause to all the winners who are going to enjoy the honors and the prizes!

It's the first time that jury provided some feedback. I really appreciate it. It's hard to learn if we don't know what mistakes we make. I hope that this practice will be continued, not only in monthly contests but more often.
Thank you for the recognition :-)
