A team of researchers at Lund University, Sweden have discovered that the wave-like ripples experienced by the milky way have been caused by a dwarf galaxy now seen in the Sagittarius constellation.
On the Telescope Live site there are plenty of One Click Observations of the same subject, or of subjects with some overlap. If you dig in it is very possible to pick up some sets that have over 50 hours of data in them!
One of the cool things we can do at Telescope Live is to book Advanced Requests or make suggestions for new One Click Observations. Some would assume that you have to do a named object and leave it centered on that.
Time is ticking for the asteroid Didymos since in just 4 days’ time on the 26th of September NASAs Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) will make its impact as part of the first planetary defence experiment.
I have been fascinated by the night sky since I ‘discovered’ Saturn with my 60mm refractor at the age of 10. An APOD-winning astrophotographer, I have been published in Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Magazine, and Space.com. As a NASA Solar System Ambassador, I have conducted thousands of public outreach programs and am a registered cruise ship speaker on astronomy and space science, as well as a Director of the Phoenix Astronomical Society. I frequently post astrophotography images, news, and tutorials on social media. My solar imaging and videos are particularly popular, and I have conducted extensive research on solar cameras and solar image processing techniques.
