Goodness gracious -- great balls of fire
Omega Centauri -- NGC 5139 -- is the biggest, brightest globular cluster in our Milky Way galaxy, containing around 10 million stars. Globular clusters contain some of the oldest known stars, although we now know that those in Omega Cen have a range of ages; very recently, several millisecond pulsars have also been found in this system.
Omega Cen makes a fine target for Telescope Live's CHI-1 telescope.
