M101 The Pinwheel Galaxy
M101 The Pinwheel Galaxy
M101 or the Pinwheel Galaxy is an Intermediate Spiral Galaxy 21 million light years away from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major.
M101 contains a high population of HII regions in an asymmetrical arms. These are caused by the tidal forces of nearby galaxies interacting with M101. Which also triggered strong star formation.
