NGC 6302 - The Butterfly Nebula

This is and image of NGC 6302, also known as the Butterfly or Bug Nebula. It is a bi-polar planetary nebula about 3.500 light years away in the constellation Scorpius. It's central star is one of the hottest known with a surface temperature of about 250,000 degrees Celsius.
