NGC2516 (Diamond Cluster)

NGC 2516, also known as the Southern Beehive, is an open star cluster located in the southern constellation Carina. It's a prominent object in the sky and visible to the naked eye in dark skies, appearing as a dense patch of stars.

Distance: NGC 2516 is located about 1,300 light-years away from Earth.
Age: The cluster is around 135 million years old, making it a relatively young open cluster.
Magnitude: It has an overall apparent magnitude of around 3.8, which makes it easily visible with the unaided eye under dark skies.
Size: The cluster spans around 30 light-years in diameter.
Composition: NGC 2516 contains hundreds of stars, many of which are blue-white giants and hot B-type stars. There are also several red giants, and the cluster is rich in stars with a high metallicity. Some variable stars and binary systems have been detected within it.
