Tarantula Nebula
This is an image of NGC 2070, also known as the Tarantula Nebula. It is large emission nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) about 160,000 light years away in the constellation Dorado. NGC 2070 actually refers to the large open cluster at the center of the nebula that produces most of the energy that makes the nebula visible. It holds a number of massive stars, including the most massive star known, R136a1.
