The December 2021 Contests Are Here

December Contest

The winners of this contest have already been announced. Find out who they are by clicking here!

And here we are...

After the brief suspension of the Contests due to the launch of Telescope Live 3.0, we are ready to announce the brand new contests!

There are lots of changes, which I'm sure most of you will welcome.

First of all, let me introduce the brand new Contest Rules, which you can read here:

Let Me Read the New Rules

In short, from now on, we have two contests each month, One-Click Contest and the Bundle Contest.

As the names suggest, the One-Click Contest involves post-processing just one One-Click Observation. The Bundle Contest will include the processing of one entire Observation Bundle.

There is one crucial change.

In the past, many of you have complained that only the best ones always win, and they're always the same.

This is kind of obvious, but it's also unfair to the many of you who are just starting out in their journey of astrophotography or are just not that expert to compete with the best.

Start your free trial to work with data gathered by a network of professional telescopes located in both hemispheres under the best night skies.

So, we are introducing two tiers for both of these contests, Beginner and Expert. And we will have separate winners for each tier, for each contest.

You should read the rules carefully to understand how this will work in detail.

All contests are open to all active subscribers in all Bronze, Silver or Gold plans.

But wait, what about Observation Bundles and Bronze members? Aren't Observation Bundles only available to Silver and Gold members?

Well, from today, we are making Observation Bundles available also to Bronze members! So no need to upgrade to Silver to access the Observation Bundles or participate in the Bundle Contest!

Obviously, you will still need to spend your credits to grab a Bundle, and this might mean purchasing more credits on the go (or, at that point, upgrading to Silver)

The December 2021 Contests

Here below you can find the definitions of the two contests. Remember to check the rules before taking part to these contests!

The One-Click Observation for the December 2021 Contest is NGC 3324, obtained with CHI-4 in the HSO filter set. It is made of 1h 40m of total exposure time.

This One-Click is part of a larger dataset acquired by Nik Szymanek, whose processed image won the Image of The Week on 4th December 2021. Challenge yourself and see if you can do better than him, with a smaller dataset!

You can see and grab this One-Click Observation by clicking here.

To qualify for the contest, remember to tag the picture you upload with #OneClickContestDec21 and either #Expert or #Beginner (check this page to find out your skill level)

The Bundle Contest

The Observation Bundle for December 2021 Contest is NGC 2014 obtained with CHI-1 in the HSO filter set. It contains 11 One-Click Observations or 11h 20m of total exposure time.

NGC 2014 is a red emission nebula surrounding an open cluster of stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
