The Rosette
The Rosette
Hi All, This image was a bit of an experiment. It was processed from a Pro Dataset. I used the H-Alpha data as a luminance layer and then colored it with an SHO narrowband image. And then overlayed it all with some H-Alpha data. I think the stars need a bit of work, but overall I am happy with the color contrast and the fine details. Cameron :-)

Looks good! I have tried to use Halpa as luminance with RGB data but so far no good results. Maybe it works better with SHO, or maybe you just know better how to use it :-) Interesting experiment.

Thanks Jarmo. I'm curious how you separate out the stars from the nebulosity, and then work on them separately. Do you use Starnet++?
Yes, I use Starnet++. It is now a PixInsight process. There was a standalone version too, I am sure it is available somewhere. And it was free to use.
